Silo on Fire TV
Install the Silo app on a Fire TV Stick with Downloader and the Downloader code.
Last updated
There is a Silo app for Fire TV Sticks. It is not in the Amazon Appstore, so you install it with the Downloader app and the Downloader code below. The Silo apps are made by the Silo project, not by Plextreme.
Needs Android 7.0 or newer. Older sticks that run an Android older than 7.0 will not work. On those, use Silo in a web browser (Silk) on the Fire TV, or on your phone. See Get started with Silo.
The Silo project says its Android TV app cannot do the first time server setup by itself. So do the setup once on another device first, then sign in on the Fire TV.
Step 1, once, on another device
Open the Silo address from your welcome email or dashboard in a web browser, or in the Silo app on your phone or iPad, and make sure you can sign in with the username and password you chose at checkout.
Step 2, on the Fire TV
- Install the Downloader app (by AFTVnews) from the Amazon Appstore on the Fire TV. Search for "Downloader".
- Allow Downloader to install apps: Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer options, then Install unknown apps, then Downloader. Menu names vary between Fire TV models. Remember to switch it off again when you have finished.
- Open Downloader. In the Home box, type the code 2249835 and choose Go.
- When it downloads, choose Install, then Open.
- Sign in on the Fire TV with the username and password you chose at checkout. If it asks you to choose a server, pick the Silo address from your welcome email or dashboard.
- Switch "Install unknown apps" off again for Downloader, and delete the downloaded file when Downloader offers it.
The code, 2249835, is the Silo project's own Downloader code for its Android TV app. Only use the code on this page. Do not use a code from a message, a video comment, a forum, or anyone who contacts you.
