Plex, Emby or Silo: which one?
A short guide to choosing between them.
Last updated
Plex. You are a guest on our Plex server, and we send you a Plex invite. Plex has its own apps for many devices. Check Plex's site for yours. You sign in with your own Plex account. What is a Plex share?
Emby. You get an account on one of our Emby servers (Server 1e to Server 5e) through an Emby Connect invite. You sign in with Emby Connect.
Silo. Built on the open source Silo Server software that we run. It works in any web browser. It has apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android TV and Google TV, Fire TV Sticks, and Android phones and tablets, that you install yourself. Android phones and tablets can get it from Google Play. Currently up to 5 profiles each. It has a 7 day free trial. You sign in with the username and password you chose at checkout. Get started with Silo
The same for all three
- For a new order: 9.99 pounds a month, with 2 streams included. Extra streams are 2.50 pounds a month each. Older services keep their own prices.
- You can run more than one service. Each is its own service with its own price.
- All three have a free trial: 7 days for Silo, 24 hours for Plex and Emby.
What you control
- Plex: your own Plex account and what you watch. Not our server.
- Emby: your own Emby Connect account and your own user. Not our server.
- Silo: your own account and profiles. Not our server.
If that did not work, contact us and tell us: which service you have (Plex, Emby, Silo or AppBox), which device and app you are using, what the screen says (the exact words), and when it happened. See Contact us.
